163870 - Machine Learning Meets Set-Based Design: A Practical Approach to Overcoming Complexity in Powertrain Design
Abstract:
Set-based design methodologies have shown real promise in offering systems engineers a broader range of choices earlier in powertrain development than with conventional point-based design. Dynamics in powertrain design, however, are evolving at an unprecedented pace, with myriad market and regulatory factors driving increased levels of complexity that threaten to overwhelm time- and resource-intensive design processes.
In this talk, Morgan Jenkins, Chief Product Officer of Secondmind, will explain how advanced machine learning techniques can deliver a step-change in powertrain design optimization, taking set-based design to new and essential levels of efficiency and impact. Through practical examples of real-world powertrain design challenges, Morgan will demonstrate how machine learning can help engineers identify and rapidly evaluate better choices across vastly more complex design spaces, reduce dependencies on expensive simulations, and minimize schedule risks by adaptively learning and refining the process as new data becomes available.
Attendees will leave this talk with a better understanding of how fueling set-based design with adcanced machine learning can significantly enhance its capabilities, particularly for complex powertrain systems. The talk will cover how this will augment human expertise, improve efficiency, and uncover novel, data-driven insights, and in turn making set-based design a far more powerful design process.
